U.S. History
US HISTORY
The course will begin with the settling of what is today the United States of America, then cover America's successful break from the British Empire and subsequent framing of a federal government. It will continue with an examination of the political and social changes caused by unification and westward expansion, and the effect of sectionalism on the Civil War and the resulting reconstruction. The second semester will examine the effects on the country brought about by industrialization, immigration and the Great Depression. If the central focus of the first semester is the effect of compromise in forming the nation, semester two is about the United States as a world power and as a leader in international affairs.
